Invoketress performs a sword bellydance piece at Mish Mash Belly Bash 08. This sword piece is inspired by the true story of Boudica, a Celtic Warrior Queen. In 61 AD, Prasutagus, King of Iceni and Boudica's husband, died. The Romans took over their kingdom, then publicly beat Boudica and raped her two daughters. Between 61 AD and 31 AD, Boudica gathered surrounding tribes and led a fierce revolt against the Romans. So successful was the uprising that the Romans were almost defeated. Unfortunately for the Iceni and their allies, the military skill of the Roman army finally led to the crushing of the rebellion. Boudica and her two daughters took poison instead of being taken again. November 22, 2008
